A new outlet for my boredom. The boredom.
Problem: the rectangular footprint of my two-story house is cardinally oriented, faces south, and backs right up to a wooded area. My HOA will not tolerate rows of Homer buckets set out in front of the house, and it's way too shady around the back, so the plants I can't support properly indoors with my one LED light will have to settle for the east or west sides of the house. The HOA might even insist on the east side.
Harebrained Idea: I've got a wood deck spanning the width of the back (north) side of the house. What say I design and build a means of hoisting a platform up to the eaves or so to get up over the shadow of the house? Should be able to get full sun on the platform while the pitch of the roof hides everything when viewed from the street. I'm thinking tubing and pulleys, anchored to the house somehow, with tracks along the frame to steady the thing in the wind.
Any and all serious or silly ideas and suggestions, please!
