spirits ABV% question...Ale versus Gin

Which contains the most alcohol,...

1) A 16oz pint of 7%abv ale, or...

2) A 2oz shot of 40% gin

How much difference is there?

no. 1 does...if that ale was 5%, they would be the same.  the pint sized serving of 7% abv ale is about 2 standard drinks, while the 2 oz. shot of 40% abv gin is 1.33 standard drinks
