seeds AJs 2010 Season :5 weeks from first seed:

AlabamaJack

eXtreme
seems my grow season has taken a full steam approach...

got seeds in my germinator with a few sprouts...

after they leave ther germinator, they go to the grow box (~3,000 lumens/sq ft),

then to the grow area...

and finally to the front window of the house (facing south)..

It looks like it is going to be a very good season so far...am looking for aphids daily...them SOBs will show up eventually, but with the preventive measures I took this year, maybe it won't be so bad...

I like the south facing window for overflow plants. I have a south facing full size sliding door I use for natural light and have tape marks on the floor where the light travels during the day. I don't think my wife is going to let me put cinder blocks up in her living space. I tried using shelving like you but found the top shelves blocked light to the back of all the shelves so now I just place them on the floor and up to 6 ft back from the window and get plenty of light. I don't have anywhere near the grow setup as you but use a very similiar process moving plants from one station to the next. There seems to be many higher level growers on our forums this year than in the past AJ, we must keep improving our skills to keep up with the new breed. Very nice start just 5 weeks from first seed, annuums grow much faster than Douglah.

Jack-
Have you tried Marigolds? EVERY successful gardener up here swears by Marigolds as a method of driving off aphids. While I haven't had a problem with them in my greenhouse, last summer my A. formosa (columbines) in the front yard were absolutely destroyed by aphids. When the old lady I bought the house off of saw them, all she said was 'you didn't plant any Marigolds this summer.'
Fortunately they're easy to grow from seed and don't require any special attention, and the women love 'em.

Me, I'm going to have an assload of Marigolds this year.

Looking great as usual AJ
I tried growing marigolds but the aphids seem to like them. Maybe there's a better variety of marigold?

How's Mrs AJ feel about you taking over part of the house with the peppers? Probably knew it was inevitable eh?

Things are looking great AJ, thanks for the pics.

Is it all about Calendula or Tagetes? Tagetes is great for fighting nematodes in the soil. Maybe it also helps against aphids?

Looking great AJ, but we never doubted you. Man, Mrs AJ must be one heck of a lady to put up with that many plants in the house. LOL

thanks all...

Nope...no marigolds for me...what I found out was that the way the control aphids on your other plants is aphids love them and go to them before you other plants...I had rather not have anything that aphids like...

she said I could have that window for 2 months and I'm gonna use every last day of that 2 months...

thanks Matt...she does put up with a lot of BS from me but also likes it when I stay out of the bank account for spending money when I make a little on my own...

proper greenhouse....when I come across about 50-60K just laying around not doing anything...what I want is a solar greenhouse that is 18 feet wide and 60 feet long...

this is what I want....

What SuperHots are you growing this year? Or, maybe the question should be what SuperHots aren't you growing this year....:D

Looking great Mr. AJ. Should be another fantastic season for you!

Superhots - Bhut Jolokia, 7 Pot, Yellow 7 Pot, & Trinidad Scorpion...maybe will add some Naga Morich since they produced so well for me last year...

I have decided to cut down on the number of varieties but grow more numbers of a specific one...probably will have 100 each Bhut, 7 Pot, and Scorpion...
