Sheesh, that's a lot of mix to manage and remix!

So you only add about 8% new mix to the old each year?

yes, thats about it...maybe 40 bags max...after the season is over, I pull up the plants, shake off the roots and pile the dirt up...I cover it with black plastic thru the winter then about the middle to end of january, I will take the plastic off of it...

I have had no problem with recycling the soil yet...when I started with the 20 yds, it was 40% cushion sand and 60% fresh compost...last year it was better and this year it is better yet because the compost has really composted...I can't tell you how many grubs I pulled out of it when I was transplanting and countless earthworms in the soil...grubs went on the ground for the mockingbirds to eat and earthworms stayed where they were...

Thanks AJ, that explains alot. You have an army of earthworms working overtime creating worm castings for you. :)

What do you got planned for the superhots usage this year?

thanks all

Chris...its not as bad as it seems...there is probably 200 cu ft in the raised beds...all I do to them is turn them over...talk about earth worms...they are thick in the raised beds...

Josh...yes, I have to use a ladder...gets scary sometimes...I sure don't want to fall and break a hip or leg or something..

FloridaSun...I have switched to 7-14-7 feed that I just side dress with now then water it in...I put about a Tbsp in each container and then just scatter handfuls in the raised beds...I feed about every 3-4 weeks...

umhuh...what's your point?....

Thanks AJ, I only have 10 plants and mix two, 2 gallon containers of "Expert Gardener" powder (10-52-10) at a quarter teaspoon per/gallon of water with a tablespoon of Epsom Salt per/gallon. The four gallons works for about 3 to 7 days depending on how much rain we have. I only use it when the pots get dry. The plants seem to get along well with it.

If I had more plants, I think I would adopt your method.

Thank you for your reply.
