Many years ago a fellow ChileHead taught me how to to make that tiny o that means  "degree" when posted after a number like ---75°F---
 
Simply press and hold the alt key and hit 248 on the keypad (Note: NumLock MUST be on.). There are many more like Check Mark, √  ,and ® ......Oh and CD--------
 

Just trying to pitch in with my $0.02¢ worth of ideas.

 
The cent symbol is alt + 155-----  ¢  ---------
