Any ideas for a hot pepper-themed contest amongst friends?

I am in charge of setting up a contest for a podcast duo (http://slackerandtheman.com/) which is themed for an audience of comic enthusiasts & sci-fi geeks. I have 10 fresh TM Scorpion peppers which I'll need to create an eating contest. I don't know what to cook with them or how much heat an average joe can take before the contest goes from fun to buzzkill.

The guys are counting on me to come up with a really great idea which they can videotape and upload to their website. The fail-safe idea (which is totally lame, however) is just to make hot wings and cover them in a sauce using pureed peppers, but that is so over-done and unoriginal.

We have only 12 hours before the contest begins so any ideas are worth expressing! Thanks!

what about eating the frresh pods?   what part of central florida are you in maybe i can help sponsor your contest?  if you need more peppers my contact info is on my web site.     peppers are free of charge.  have fun!

+ 1 for sicman
I would start with habs and work your way up the scoville scale ending with the reaper. That way they can bail when they want. For a tie i would have them drink a bottle of LDHS or SL hot sauce. Now there's a contest I would watch. Oh yea have them sign a waiver and no throwing up.

:welcome: and I have done the pepper challenge with my daughters friends, teenage boys are so pumped up to prove they're studs they will try anything, its fun to watch em cry!!  I tried to get her female friends to try but girls are a bit more intelligent than the boys at that age.

Fill jalapeño poppers with chopped up super hots and some just regular. (Number depends on amount of contestants. Then have them use the "Force" to decide which popper to eat. If they hit a superhot filled one, they are out. The last one standing with the strongest "Force" (not have eaten a super hot filled peno) wins. Lol

To answer the "how many Moruga scorps can the average person handle" the answer is none. The average person can handle none Morugas.

I'm an experienced hot /spicy food eater and when I ate a Moruga it felt like I stabbed myself in the tongue and brain with a steak knife.

Any wing sauce you make with 10 of them is going to be extremely hot.10 Morugas in say, 32 oz of wing sauce = very, very hot. Like "tap out after 2 wings" hot.

Good luck!

Ps - please post a link when it's all said & done!

I wanted to drop in and say that we will be having scorpion pepper themed chili and the contest is who can eat the most chili dogs!

Does anybody want to sample the chili for me so I can verify that the challenge is doable? I want the winner to at least eat 2 chili dogs to win so that I can get some good video footage.

Honestly 1-2 pods will heat up a gallon of chili pretty good.

10 will be really, really hot.

But honestly any amount is technically "doable" - whether someone can eat 2 chili dogs or not is debatable. lol
