Any Tomatillo growers ?

Here is my better looking Tomatillo plant out of the two I have in my garden. It has allot of blossoms and a few tomatillos on it. This is my first time growing them but it seems to take them longer than tomato plants to ripen.

I have a few very late starts but they are growing very fast. They should be purple tomatillos, never had them before(nor any)

I've grown them in the past, but never got many fruit. Wanted to grow them again this year but never could find seeds at the local stores. I'd be pleased to get seeds for next year if anyone has them to spare.

Nice looking plant!
I have also tomatillos this year, in fact since I ate salsa verde I keep growing tomatillos.
I know that in many places on the net you will find that you need at least 2 plants for pollination (they say only one will not self-pollinate), so keep them together.
Not sure if should be sow earlier, but for me too, they ripen later than "normal" tomatoes. But they are great, and I even refrigerate some over winter.

I have 2 plants side by side. The bees seem to like them too :)

I stuck a 4pack in a big pot quite late. They've been getting some great size (close to 3.5ft now) and lots of blooms but the fruit just doesn't want to set for me yet :-/ seem to be plenty of pollinators around.

First time growing them so hoping I'll at least get a taste and start earlier next year.

x2 on that. I have a very healthy tomatillo over 4 ft. tall with tons of flowers, but mine doesnt want to set either. Hopefully it will kick into gear soon...

Just one? I hear you need at least 2 for pollination purposes.

I've heard conflicting opinions on needing more than one, but now from personal experience I think I should have gotten a second one.

I got two tomatillo plants and same problem - flowers but no fruit. I've recently learned that tomatillo (and tomato) rarely set fruit in hot and humid conditions but that's what Singapore is all the time. So I am planning to try spraying them with 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid and gibberellic acid (they promote fruit setting for tomatoes) and see how. Need to take drastic measures for my salsa verde.

So, my peppers are doing good, my tomatoes are doing great, and my tomatillos are out of control this year!:

First year growing them, and they must like the pepper/tomato fert mix I put together. Hard to see in the pic, but they're bending the tomato cages I used.

None ripe yet, but lots of paper husks:

And I have some that popped out of their husks. Anyone see this before?

I received some seed, I'm starting the purple variety. Are they quick growers like tomatoes or slow as peppers?
my experience is the plant grows quick but the fruit is slower like a pepper.
