I have also tomatillos this year, in fact since I ate salsa verde I keep growing tomatillos.
I know that in many places on the net you will find that you need at least 2 plants for pollination (they say only one will not self-pollinate), so keep them together.
Not sure if should be sow earlier, but for me too, they ripen later than "normal" tomatoes. But they are great, and I even refrigerate some over winter.
Yes, the bees like them very much!SavinaRed said:I have 2 plants side by side. The bees seem to like them too

First time growing them so hoping I'll at least get a taste and start earlier next year.

x2 on that. I have a very healthy tomatillo over 4 ft. tall with tons of flowers, but mine doesnt want to set either. Hopefully it will kick into gear soon...

Just one? I hear you need at least 2 for pollination purposes.
my experience is the plant grows quick but the fruit is slower like a pepper.Slizarus said:I received some seed, I'm starting the purple variety. Are they quick growers like tomatoes or slow as peppers?
