Anybody else growing cannabis?

Uncle Eckley

eXtreme
We've had legal homegrow in Virginia since the summer and I've been having a blast. I run a little 36x20x63 tent and have been able to provide a modest abundance for myself and some family. Just switched from a three-plant staggered autoflower cycle with individual reservoirs to one big reservoir so I can run autos or photos.
Anybody else post your rig?

Unlike peppers, these things drink like sailors! The droop is me behind schedule with the water can.

They'll be repotted and fed Alaska Fish by the weekend, my Aji Oro & Rocoto Rojo need into their big boy pants too. The C. Annibis will stay in the tent for a while, but time is come for the peppers to start getting a bit of the real thing.

Yep, thirsty and often heavy feeders. Many of the varieties I've grown have been huge pigs, demanding ~1500ppm during flower. Can't wait to see what you get from your mystery beans!

PiƱa Colada is in the wine cooler drying. I'll get some pics of it in a couple days after dry trim. It was a small plant, yield somewhere between an ounce or two, buds smallish but very pretty, not too frosty. It smells very bright, tropical fruity, sharp almost to the point of seeming artificial like an air freshener or something. I let it get good and ripe - hoping for some tasty rosin.

Ohio's not all bad. Yours was one of the first states to decriminalize - way back in the 70s, I think. Which end of the shore on you on? Michigan's cool..
I'm in Cleveland, on the south shore of Lake Erie.

Well, the CBD is calming, but doesn't do much for the sciatica. CBG, on the other hand, virtually eliminates the intense toothache from my right hind quarter and down. So far I've seen no CBG products here in CO without an equal amount of THC blended in. Maybe it's an unavoidable consequence, but I haven't asked. What little I've read says that the benefits of CBG are still being researched, but so far I'm sold on it and don't require a damned gub'mint med card to get it. The most potent I've found so far is the 10mg/10mg gummies. I generally get relief from a third or half of those.
Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out.

sciatica needs to be de3lt with in excesise, specifically hip wiggles to loosen the Lumbar, that how I deal with mine and have been for many years. Pinched nerve basically. Everyone is different so depends what area.
Pain wise the CBD Critical mass is superb, Ive had tooth ace to the point were I wanted to take it out myself instead wait 10 days, and with taking the CBDCM the pain was gone in two hours, as long as I didnt use that side the pain did not come back.

Jes' a quickie. Got my whole TWO Rocotos repotted yesterday, the mystery seed plants got bigger pots as well. The Aji Oro is only 4 inches tall yet starting to bloom like a good girl should...

Speaking of "bloom" and "girls", the friend who gave me the seed is "pretty sure" that those seeds were feminized, or he wouldn't have saved them.

No trellis, no trim (other than the initial topping), this is more a "Wonder if I can grow these" than a "Let's get jiggy with the process" kind of thing. Apparently I can, so maybe next time I'll try a more botanically scientific grow.

Can't smoke the stuff, but brownies I can certainly eat!

Wow, what a difference in two weeks!

Yeah! She came around, but she really dragged and didn't perform as well as the last GSC I did. Here, I've got pictures.

I'm going back to the conical reservoirs. The extra headroom the floor reservoir provided was nice, but pumping out the fluid was a major pain compared to my previous workflow.

Wow, pretty. When I was a pup we called those Thai Stick.

Mine, two minutes ago:

Fuzzy, I know. I can't take a good pic anymore...

The little hairs on the first two are hard/impossible to see, but they're there. That last pic is worrisome. I'm afraid it might be male.

It's OK tho...I'm learning me up a bunch...

Oh, they may look like Vietnam-era Thai sticks, but they sure don't smoke like them, lol. ;)

Looking good, @stettoman! I agree, that last one looks a bit off; the stigma are usually the first thing I notice. Not to worry - watching them this closely you'll have plenty of time to remove any males before the pods open. If it is male, you might clone one of your females and grow them out side by side in isolation - way cheaper than buying beans. Isolating individual female flower sites for pollination is a thing, too. I've even heard of pollinating early so as to fertilize only the preflowers (which will remain individual calyxes, but continue to grow and plump). If done well you end up with two beans at each of the first flowering nodes - pretty neat.

Btw, I didn't know there was preflowering during veg lighting now except with autos.. When I grew cannabis years and years ago you had to start flowering light to sex your young'uns. Anybody know anything about that? Autos weren't a thing back then - I'm not sure whether ruderalis was even known. What're your day/night hours, @stettoman?

I haven't checked the timer since initial setup, but I know it's more than 12 on. One of my lights, a $100 no-name "1200 watt" (you know what that actually means  ) has two dials, one for veg, another for bloom. I've always had both turned up to 100%. Peppers loved it that way.

The other light has no attenuation, also no full spectrum klieglight. It is from a respectable hydroponics outfit I don't remember the name. They claim 600 watts, which is may or may not be closer to the truth.

Is there a point where I should maybe keep the "bloom" mode at 100% and attenuate the veg? These plants aren't really telegraphing what the want, other than +/- a half gallon of water and fish fert every day...

Edit to add:
I looked my lights up. I was wrong about the wattage (their claim) on the dually:

And the Apollo, which I've had longer:

I went ahead and changed the claimed wattage above as well.

Couldn't say not knowing exactly what that does on your light. With photoperiod plants, you switch the light cycle from day-heavy to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark to tell the plants it's autumn and time to start flowering. Autoflower varieties will flower after a couple few weeks regardless of the light cycle - some folks just leave the lights on their autos 24/7.

These are from the suspected male plant. The others display a pretty convincing "hair" from their pre-blossoms.

Just looking for confirmation before I separate this plant...

I'm actually pretty impressed with how easy these were to grow, very lush for just light, water and 5-1-1 fish fert. I cut the timer down to 12 hours from +/-16 over the weekend, turned the veg lights to bloom and getting some remarkable results already.

Would a different npk fert matter at this point, or just let 'em go?

Yep, definitely male.

They look a little heavy on nitrogen, 5-1-1 would explain it. You'll want to back off on the N, begin adding more P to the ratio, then more K after a few weeks. They'll gobble the potassium when they're flowering heavily. You get a feel for it after a few cycles.

They look fantastic! Just a tad dark is all. Can we get a wide shot?

I found a box of Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster that looks a bit hot, so I did a half tsp to the gallon instead of the tablespoon.

We'll see, eh?

I imagine that would be fine. It ain't rocket surgery, after all. ;)

A very handsome little garden! Looks like a sativa-dominant hybrid; they'll make excellent brownies.
