hydroponic Anyone growing Hydroponic?

willard - if you have that bypass valve open, wouldnt the water spray back into the bucket & have less pressure/water being sprayed onto the roots. & spraying 16 hrs a day nonstop ?

cheezy - those metal halide put out some serious light & takes alot to run. I was thinking about using a style like a flourescent light bulb, a good kind, but wonder if they'll truely do the job ?

but if everythings gonna cost over $300 to just start out, then I dont know if I will or not.

Understandable! The lighting is super important. Cheap lights will produce gangly pitiful plants. Peppers are some of the most sun loving plants on the planet. Weak light does not satisfy them. Getting a used light is the best bet.

The pump bypass has a ball valve that varies return flow from 0-100% with a handle. Pump runs 16 hr/day, 365 days a year.

Well I have both an Ecogrower and 2 DWC setups that I made and the DWC is the easiest to setup in my opinion.
I use basket lids on a couple of 5 gallon buckets.
Fill with hydroton or medium of choice.
Drill a 1/4" hole above the water line and insert your tubing with a bubbler on the end.
Add water / nutrients and you're done. Swap out water every other week.
The Ecogrower is nice, but much more expensive and I can only grow 4 plants at a time in it since the hab leaves get so huge.
