Anyone have extra seeds/varietys?

Y'all be actin like "true this and true that"...

If I go to Home Depot and buy a Jalapeño plant and a Anaheim plant, plant them 6" apart, I'll get a Anepeineño pepper? :Rofl: :rofl:

I've done it.

According to that logic, my 85 yo Apple tree would be putting out potatos by now. :Rofl: :rofl:

I wonder how nature survives sometimes. :D

No. You would get more of a Jalaheim.

My experiences in THP is, like, if you post about chiles and did and act like a normal person who loves the hobby, and THEN you ask about buying/ trading seeds... Members here send you the shit for free, and will rebuke the offers to send SASBES or funds.

But, enough guys with low post counts, often limited to seed-beggin', have exploited that generosity. And, the collective patience of legit THP members seems to have worn thin.

I agree that paranoia about the dangers of open pollination is probably a little excessive. It used to terrify me, but after two seasons, I've found that more often than not, these things tend to grow true. Yeah, I've had some surprise crosses pop up, but not nearly so often as I'd thought they would when I was a total neophyte.

I've taken a cue from Guru this year and purchased a couple dozen isolation bags, so I should have true seeds this year...maybe, if I remember to use those bags....

About open pollination... it may well be that plants grown from open pollinated seeds most likely grow true to type. Now if you grow 5 plants of a specific variety from open pollinated seeds and one of those plants happens to be a cross, it's not a big deal, but if you're like me and only grow one plant of a specific variety because of space constraints and that plant happens to be a cross, that may be a real disappointment...

Spot on brotha, my goal wasnt about open pollination panic but to correct the good stuff notion our misguided beggar had. Most of the time I agree, theres no cross. Unfortunately our friends posts over the last 5 years is ( I need seeds) for some reason or another. Even in the face of taking advantage, you guys offered seeds up left and right. Pepper people truly rock

Side note, if anyone has Yaki blue seeds pm me and I can send some dough cuz I cant find em anywhere except Yaki fawn & Im not a fan of that pheno lol

Oh and good isolation technique is using the rice holding bags that are used at weddings lol

I have a variety of these Paint screens I hope to employ this season. I think they come in 1, 3, and 5 gallons. I think this is the way to go if you are isolating a large number of different plants outside.. Or the organzi bags, like someone else mentioned, for single isolation. I also like using the organzi bags for catching super fine seeds that ordinarily get jettisoned from the plant, like Oxalis spp. Those little bags are awesome for many things!

I know the ones I intend to do it with are going to be dwarfed for this purpose. I figure once I set a fair amount of pods, I can release them.
How many seeds do I need really? Jim Morrow uses tulle and, I think he said, Mosquito netting.. But he seems to be growing to sell seed.
