pests Anyone know what these bugs are?

Search engines are your friend - do a search for "ladybug varieties" and you will find charts with pictures - not all ladybugs look like the stereotypical ladybug that has red cover with black spots.

I have seen one of these "beetles" on one of my plants once. What is funny is it is the ONLY bug that has ever gotten into my indoor setup. I looked it up and it was a ladybug mimic and yes it was bad for the plants. No damage was done since I caught him right away, but I am glad I found him out.
It was ultra similar to a ladybug. Slightly smaller with a brown outter shell (instead of the red on a traditional ladybug) with black spots.
I would work on getting rid of them right away.
I wish I could remember where I found the link, but someone linked a "predatory bug list" on one of the posts in this forum a few weeks ago that shows what natural insects prey on these false ladybugs.

OH, and FYI, when I was posting this picture which I googled, i received the same message that it would not allow that extention. Just right click the image and select "view Image" and then right click again and select copy image link location. That may help.

The number of threads on this site that have new users saying "I'd post pictures but I can't" is irritating. Maybe we should sticky a thread somewhere teaching people how? I still have trouble posting pictures on this site and I've been here for quite a while.

Hmmm, the pic is from my iphone. Since it didn't work, I uploaded the pic to photobucket and I did an html copy.
That doesn't seem to work either.
In some of my other forums, there is usually an "insert image" icon that works with photobucket.
Ideas?

I can see it. The picture isn't too good since I can't zoom in but the bug is dark dark brown. Almost black. Doesn't look like any ladybug I've ever seen. Maybe scoop it up and release it outside. Killing seems a little harsh

We don't have them inside (so far) and they are just quite a few of them around the back yard.
They don't bother me but just wanted to make sure they won't harm my peppers! ;-0

Maybe run down to your local gardening store and pick up a bottle of Azamax or some such other pesticide. I've never used them but apparently they're USDA certified organic or some such other thing and the toxins become inert after a few hours in open air. If they are indeed kudzu bugs you're up for a battle the likes of which haven't been seen since the days of Sauron.
Yes, unless you pay for an "extreme" membership, you can't upload photos to this site. There is a pinned thread on getting pics into your post into the Support section. Jamison is right - upload a pic to a photo site (or your own website if you have one) then use the image link in the editor (when you create your post) and it should show up easy. If it doesn't, most likely you have more in your copy of the URL than should be there.
