Appeal of Tajin ?

I see this stuff everywhere: supermarkets, Costco, etc. My local Winco had a giant display, so I picked one up for $2 to see what's the fuss. The ingredients are "chili powder, salt, dehydrated lime juice". All I can really taste is lime powder. I'm sure it's big with the Hispanic community and they must sell a ton. It got me thinking, though. Maybe a superhot version would be really good?

I got a bottle of this about a year ago, didn't care for it too much. I guess my hopes were too high seeing its proliferation everywhere! Supposed to sprinkle it on jicama (the traditional application) or melons, other fruit, etc..

They do make a 'hotter' version- a yellow labeled 'Habanero' one, never could find one however (always sold out perhaps..?..). I'd certainly try that one out if I could get it! (I think it has the 4 tiny flames all lit up on the label..)

Lime is great with flakes. You can also add lemon/lime peels to flakes (very sparingly though!) and it works great in poultry/fish rubs. I think superhots might work for the chiliheads here, but I don't think the general public would dig it.

I actually really like this stuff.  This goes great on mangoes, in mexico street vendors sell mangoes or jicama covered in chili lime powder like this.  I've had the habanero version and the level of heat definitely left something to be desired(maybe fresh jalapeno heat levels)
