I remember some epic markets in japan. Shame peppers are not more available to you. I always thought all those vending machines on nearly every corner were cool. Who woulda thought, booze like whisky from a vending machine. Oh, and one side of the machine hot with coffee and cocoa and the other side cold with soda and beer. LOVED JAPAN.

I think the wait for a pepper to ripen is worse than waiting for them to start flowering

Well I know they grow santakas there, about 50,000 scoville. But it's not in season right now sadly.
