Artisan Made German Grills

I had to post this... ever since I moved to Germany in 2009 I have been overwhelmed by the quality of the buildings, building materials, and craftsmanship. My inlaws operate a family construction company and there are at least 3 generations of masons that have handed down their craft.

Mostly they do turn-key homes, garages, and renovations... but for the family they also do grills. This is no Weber, this is a custom hand-made grill that will outlast your home!

Here's the grillhütte (grill hut) at the family's weekend place.

Here's a pic of a new grill they are building at the family home. This one is complete with a wood fired pizza oven.

Now, I asked my father-in-law how much something like this would cost.... If we were to duplicate something like this in the US you'd be looking at $30k or so... that would include travel, etc.... Hey, if you have to have the best

Thinking that we could make this into a little winter business.... when it is cold and not so nice here, we could build grills in the US where the winter's are mild (Florida, Cali, Texas, etc....)

What do you all think?

You put fire in the compartments underneath and grill on top TB. But... 30K? I see maybe 2K worth of concrete and fire block there, including the labor.

What I really want to see are some close ups of the wood fired pizza oven!

I WANT THAT!

Regarding the new grill, that was an early pic I posted. There has been some progress since, I'll take some more next time I am over there. In the meantime here are some of the grillhütte. Cooking on it soon.

The new grill has 3 levels. The compartments underneath are for wood and other storage. That picture, the only I have, shows about 30% complete.

Now THAT is what I'm talkin' 'bout!

That 'thang is huge!

I can almost smell the aroma of wood burning.

And the sight of a pizza cooking right on the brick with the cheese gettin' all melty is pure awesomenessess!

A four legged friend helping out makes it even more so.

Well done Ausmith!

Very nice! What is that yellow line strung up around the roof? Lighting or gas?

Either way I'm totally jealous, please post more pics when the new one is finished
