at the local supermarket

I saw this chili plant in the supermarket. The plant is barely 10 cm high but the amount of chili it produces. i wonder what they are using to get high yield without side effects to the plant.

10cm seems tiny, how long/round are the pods?

those pots are like 5inch width and about 4inch high
the thickness of the pods less than 1/2 cm width and 4 to 5 cm long

I've got an unknown ornamental that is a little bit taller with the same size pods, but it has more peppers than leaves. And there is no heat and they taste horrible.

They look like ornamentals that are bred to stay small while being productive

i bought one before. this was a miniture of the thai birds eye chilli. the plant does not last long. i still have that plant but its already third generation and its lost all its leaves already. time to make 4th generation hehe.

thats why i did not buy this one. i when back to the supermarket to see if they still got it. well they had 3 more and it was losing its leaves ( dark green leaves not yellow). i think nobody was watering them.

i had the same kind of plant. Lasted about 2 weeks. I didn't even bother trying to eat any but always wondered how it grew so nicely. At first I thought it was plastic.

it might be but i did not see the other colour related to medusa pepper.

In my post I am only referring to the post by rds040800, not your's at the top of the thread. I have no idea what the purple and white ones are.
Do they have a hot or good flavor?
