Bali Tropical Glog 2018

Hello THP,
I was a silent reader before, and got a lot of knowledge here.
Last year was disastrous season for me. Pest, disease, bad germination.
So, i decided to make my own glog for 2018, and take as many advice as possible.

This year, im growing around 15 varieties of c. Chinense.
Here is my list
- carolina reaper
- bhutlah scorpion
- red bhut jolokia
- red naga brain
- red apocalypse
- choco apocalypse
- big mustard mama
- MA wartryx
- podzilla chocolate
- borg-9 bleeding calyx
- brazilian morouga
- white coyote zan
- katokkon (habanero type plant)
- ts butch t
- choco reaper

Sown on 8 december, and got excellent germination rate around 95%. That is already a success for me.

Im now still waiting YBS seeds from pepper-guru, and will start my second grow batch along with 2018 grow down.

Don't you just love watching your new plants starting to grow?  It so nicely ushers in the new season and the excitement to follow.

I got my seeds from a member in Facebook groups here in Indonesia.
Seeds are cheap here.

Cool. Only reason Im asking is that they all have a very similar appearance. I had a terrible year with seeds that I bought that turned out to be something else all together. Ill be watching this glog and all the best with the grow.

I had the same experience with not growing true seeds last year.
With all the seeds are open pollinated, i just wish for the best.
If it was a cross, you can name them KAOS pepper, anyway, maybe [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Terima kasih, drathag.

The medium is compost, rice hulls, garden soil and wormcasting mix.
I sow seeds in rockwool, then plant them in individual pots after hooked.
The weather has been strangely very nice and sunny for 4 days now. Usually january is the peak of rainy season.

I'll post photos update weekly, so i can see their growth.

Took some photos this morning, after heavy rain last night.
Some seedlings seem to grow very slow.
Maybe they need some booster?

Weekly update, start to see some growth.
Has been so much rain and very little sunshine this week.

24 Cabai Rawit seeds were sown last week, 6 seedlings were picked by neighbor's naughty chicken. [emoji35][emoji35]

Weekly update
Rainy season is almost over. Lots of sunshine now.
The growth is fast.
Some seedlings are almost 20cm tall.
Will start potting into their final pots next week. [emoji869][emoji869][emoji869]

I will give you one valuable advise based on my own tests, pick some of those lower leaves off from the plants as they grow bigger, little by little and not too much at a time.
 
Let the exposed stem heal up the wounds created by the leaf picking and then finally bury most of that exposed stem inside the growing medium, leaving only maybe inch or two of the stem before the next set of leaves you didnt pick off.
 
This trick works just great for supporting the chili from wind etc. conditions and the buried stem will start rapidly creating new roots to the soil and thus the uptake of the nutrients/water will be many times better and the chili will start to grow like weed within 2-3 weeks after this burying thing. I think this same trick would work great in a raised soil beds too.
 
I have plenty of photo evidence of the effects of this simple trick using 10 litre airpots:

You can start right now by picking the first set of lower leaves to make the watering more easy.
