1 1/3 cups brown sugar
1 - 15oz can tomato sauce
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 large onion chopped
6 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 1/3 tablespoons thyme dried crumbled
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 cloves garlic,minced finely
1/2 cup pineapple puree
optional ingredient.. a touch of liquid smoke
this recipe needs no liquid smoke recipe if you are using it for the bbq or grill. as the cooking process gives smoke flavor in itself
Sweat onions, add garlic.Combine rest of ingredients in a medium saucepan. Simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors.If sauce begins to thicken too much, add a little apple juice. Season with pepper to taste. Can be made two days ahead. Cover, chill.
