smoking Bam's Asian Themed Q'd Ribs and more

i finally got some loin ribs here for less than $9/lb..... i stocked up..

i wanted to do something different with my BBQ and my ribs.

i came up with this

Bam's Asian Inspired Rib Rub

there is enough rub here to rub 2 good sized rack of ribs

2 tablespoons dried orange peel
1 tablespoon white pepper
1 tablespoon 5 spice powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tablespoon rubbed sweet basil-dried
1 tablespoon garlic powder
6 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons tubinado sugar
1 tsp cumin

mix together and let sit overnight for best result.

you can also add some ginger to this

started with these..

i coated the asian ribs generously with the following so the rub would stick to the ribs

great looking ribs Bam...did you slather them with Q sauce before taking them off the smoker and if you did, how long before taking them off did you do it?

i usually slather them the last hour or so with desired sauce.

i also usually dont wrap my ribs in foil but i have found lately when i dont, the smoke is overpowering.

these ones i smoked for 2 1/2 hours, foiled for an hour or so, unwrapped and sauce for another hour or so

Do you mop your ribs with a cider mop at all?

If so
1)At what point to you start misting them?
2)What do you use in the mop?

I think I want to try these out next weekend.

looks mighty tasty.

Great looking ribs. Nice recipe also. I've cooked something similar , but had a bit of ginger, and some "Kochujang" (Korean pepper paste) that gave it a nice kick. Finished off with some honey and sesame glaze afterward.

i dont mop my ribs, i cook in a UDS and it keeps moisture inside naturally..i have yet to produce any dry meat.

i liked them both equally. the asian ribs were a very good change to regular Q'd ribs

Be careful with a mop, you'll wash the flavor away if you've sauced or rubbed. You also won't get a nice bark. Mopping is for the floor ;)
