Who is growing what and lets hear your successes and failures and what growing zone are you in. I'm going to pick up a couple of new varieties of raspberry plants today the Baba Red and the Fall Gold. That will give me 6 different varieties this year. I have 7 different blueberry varieties , 6 strawberry varieties and 2 mulberry varieties. So far all mine are fruiting well and the pineberries were the hardest to get established but now in their 3rd season are doing great. Most of my berries came from this nursery

House came with Raspberries so will incorporate them this year, I planted two Seabuckthorn that I have had for three years in a bucket, hope they produce this year, last two years nothing. (hope they survived the cold as well). Also have a blackcurrent I transplanted, got nailed last winter, hope it survived this winter.
 
I've got raspberries, blackberries, Canadian haskaps and a couple blueberries.  I'm in 5a and the raspberries/blackberries are doing excellent - put the raspberries (latham & heritage) in 5 years ago and they have done very well.  Blackberries (navaho) were planted 2 years ago and really took off this last year.  The haskaps are like a blueberry, but the fruits are shaped differently.  They are very early (fruiting in early June) but this year my pollinator was victim of too much rain early in the season and then our new puppy dug the stuffing out of it and it did not recover.  Fruits from the haskaps really didn't come on this year as a result.  Our soil is very clay and not good for blueberries, so I doubt I'll plant them again.
 
 
 
I have:
 
Three blueberry bushes.  Last year, at about three feet high, they really produced.
 
Two elderberry, dug from local wild stock.  Two years old - doing well but not yet producing (just a few heads last year)
 
One red currant and one gooseberry.  This will be third season.  Growing well but no fruit yet.
 
Two blackberry planted on the stream bank.  This will be the third season.  Last year they went apeshit!  Canes and berries galore.
          These guys are going to need some diligent attention or they'll overgrow everything.

I grow all my blueberries in containers and just transplanted them into their final containers this week which are 1/2 wine barrels. They do really well in containers if you have bad soil for them.
 
Blackberries.  Last fall, a friend gave me some shoots from what he thought were of the "Chester"  variety.  Just yesterday, I checked them and they are looking so-so.  One nice green cane, the others, sort of brownish.  In addition to the Chesters, I recently purchased, from Indiana Berry, 4 Prime-Ark Traveler and 4 Prime-Ark Freedom.  Excellent bare root plants of a nice size!  And, a decent price of $4.55 each.  All will be grown in 15 gallon fabric grow-bags.  The USDA says I'm in Zone 7b, but the past few winters it should have been 6a.  We always see minus temperatures in the teens over the winter, but high 90s and low 100s in August.  Go figure.  At any rate, I love blackberries and will have a tough time waiting until next year for fruit!  
 
A couple decades ago we bought the lot we built our house on.   There was a four foot tall mulberry tree growing on the stream bank.  I cut it down as I did not want mulberry bird poop on everything.   Then I cut it down a second time when it tried to grow back.
 
What the hell was I thinking!   I wish I had that 20 yo mulberry tree now!
 
i'm in zone 3a, still cold and still got snow!
 
I have red raspberries, goji berry, haskcap and black currant.
 
The raspberries are several years old and in containers to keep them from spreading. The goji is around 30 years and I am constantly ripping up shoots as they put out runners. 5 varieties of haskap, in ground, around 8 years old. the black currant is about 15 years old.

That sounds like a really good idea. My location has very sandy beachy soil. Do the blueberry bushes get to be a good size in the half barrels?

What varieties are you growing and can you recommend a pollinator?  I bought 2 haskaps & a pollinator 5 years ago, the pollinator died while the other two are doing fine ~ about 3' tall but no berries.

i've wanted to grow black currants but i'm running out of sun. how much sun do they need to thrive?
I've read they can do shady north exposures, or partial to full sun. kinda confused

sorry for the delay Dru, I don't usually log in and just view as guest, plus i think i have notifications turned off.
 
so, i have 2 Borealis plants, 1 Berry Blue, 1 Tundra and 1 Polar Jewel.  The Berry Blue and Polar Jewel are suppose to be pollinators.
 
according to the university of saskatchewan, which has a haskap growing center, the haskap pollinator must be a compatible pollinator, so not any pollinator will do........... i must have made the right choice because all my plants fruit.  the tundra and polar jewel are low producers but that might be due to lower sunlight or the plants are too close together. most of the plants i purchased were on clearance(under $10). i did pay $29 for the berry blue.
 
I just checked my plants and they are budding.
 
If you have not tried one of these berries try and find one. I picked mine up 2 years ago at Home Depot. They are called Hula Berries or Pineapple Strawberries. They are delicious. My plants are going on there 3rd year and the berries this year are twice the size of last years crop.

Berries will grow in different Sun levels, just the sugar levels will be different, could end up with sour berries. Planted a Goosberry plant a week a go.
