A few forums (those with a lot of questions) now have a Best Answer feature, and the topic starter (or staff) can mark the best answer. The post will appear highlighted and at the top of the the topic.

That's a great new feature! Will this only be on new posts in those specific forums, or will it be retroactive to old posts as well?

You can uncheck the BA and check a new one, yes.
It's only in forums where people mostly ask questions. If you feel it needs to be in another, you can let me know. If you are the author you will see the button on posts in your topic, if not, it is not enabled.
