Wife and kids were at the community pool. I was out weeding and checking on things. Realized I had enough to offer the first mixed boxes. Then it started pouring rain. Decided to have fun with it and offered a box at a time, explaining on Facebook that I would pick that box, set it to dry, and then post another even though it was raining.
I was slip sliding away in the mud, shoes getting thick and heavy. Rain was cold and heavy. Loved it because it has been so hot lately. That and the plants needed it. Right as I was picking the last box I figured I could pull, I slid into a reaper plant. It was a gonner.
Mentioned it on Facebook and someone said he would buy the green pods. Counted to see what I could sell. Had about two boxes, posted them and they both sold.
During all of this, wife was playing with her phone at the pool. She sees the posts and replies: Is it raining there? Seems 15 miles away there was no storm at all. So she gets home, I am done with the last box, covered in mud, even on my face and in my hair. It was so much fun.
No clue if anyone from THP participated, but if you did thank you. I will never forget this first day of the season day. It was a frigging hoot. I love this job and the folk who become my patrons. You guys are frigging great. Oh, and thank you for helping me to keep my house n farm, feed my kids, and remain sane in the fact that there is at least one thing I can still do.
