Best material to tie peppers?

What is the best material to tie peppers and tomatoes to stakes? I was told not to use string because it can cut into the plant.

Well I think the "best" would be velcro, since it's reusable and easily adjusted.

I use a plastic twine made in Florida and the same stuff they use for the Florida weave on tomatoes.

I have a big roll of butchers string and have been using that for years now with no problems.

Don't go spending hard earned money on soft materials.....It's all in how tight you tie it. It only has to be tight enough to stop the plant snapping off. I usually leave it loose enough to still get 2 fingers in. That way you will never need to cut the string but it will always support the plant in the wind. Then all you have to do is keep adding more string as the plant grows..

I have never lost a plant with this method. As long as the string is more than 3mm thick you won't have a problem.

Panty hose is an excellent thing to use but any softer clothing like t shirts, etc can be cut up in strips to tie your plants to the stakes. The more colorful the better..pretty garden lol.

I use coated wire, special clamps, cord, what ever is on stock. As stakes I use bamboo poles grown in my yard.

I used coated copper wire to tie up my pot plants in LA.....saved my ass one time when someone came and tried to steal the thing and couldn't untie it
