Bhut Jolokia Growth Timeline

Anyone else document their plants growth on a time line. I think I'm averaging 201-202 days from seed to harvest with my BJ's. My 2011 crop turned out like this;

Planted seeds = January 4th

First seeds to sprout = January 19th (15 Days)

First plant with open flowers = June 7th (154 Days)

First Green Pods = June 21st (168 Days)

First Red Ripe Pods = July 25 (202 Days)

And a little video docuentation as well,

The only reason I ever use timelines is to make sure I grow better next year and get ripe pods faster :cool:

I've never been very good at growing for speed because I was very low tech up until this year. Gonna see what heat I can crank out!

For most plants I probably average 120-130 days from seed to ripe fruit and maybe another month or two for the slow growing supers.

Thanks for the vid, much appreciated! Its shaky, but gets the timeline across. I sure hope my BJokes will grow as well as yours. Did you get a second crop of pods, or is it one and done? I was hoping you would push the button on the blender when you had all those pods in there...I plan to wear a mask if I ever get to process some.

I started two varieties about the same date as yours, so will be fun to compare. Mine quite stubborn to germinate. I got 50% of a BJ Indian Carbon, and only 1 out of 9 of a BJ from Chile Pepper Institute. (note: The CPI seeds were a gift and looked pretty old and who knows the care they received in storage.)

Anyway, thanks again. It's cool when a gardener does a 'time lapse' of the whole season.... :cool:

This is excellent. I'm probably a dozen miles east of you and I started my seeds Christmas day. Last year I grew Fataliis that followed your Bhut's schedule except 3 months later. Sadly my first Fataliis ripened in time for the Halloween snow.

Did your plant maintain a good yield until the end of the season?
