chinense bhut jolokia / naga jolokia

I heard the same thing you did, that the Bhut had some some frutescens genetics and the Bih had some annuum genetics. Perhaps they mixed up the samples or something? I can't say for sure or who's right but I tend to side with CPI since they've done multiple tests on the Bhut and have kind of made it their trademark strain.

There is no trademark. Bhut seeds were going around long before CPI had them. CPI actually were the biggest original critics, basically calling the Assam scientists liars until they tested it themselves
Most of the differences in the bhuts, nagas has to do with your seed source and which area/farmer they came from
 
Yeah sorry that's what I meant. Not that they have the strain trademarked but that they have done so much testing on the Bhut exclusively that it had become a strain associated with the CPI.
