Bhut Jolokia

Hi there,
This is my first season growing chillies from scratch and having more success than I originally thought I would in my first year. However, the Bhut Jolokia chillies that I sewed in early February and germinated in around 20 days. I put them in to second pots to harden them off before planting into larger pots but the seem to have stopped growing, despite having hot weather and being fed weekly by
Chilli Focus and water in between feeding! Im not sure if I have done something wrong but the other variety of plants are now flowering and starting to produce fruit, I know that the Bhut Jolokia take longer before they flower and start to produce fruit but giving the size of them at the moment Im not sure if they are going to do anything. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think overall your plants are looking very healthy, and they will probably start fruiting in some weeks if you just hang in there. Plant #2 might be showing some signs of overwatering, so I'd hold back a bit on the watering...

But yes, Chinenses will take longer to fruit, but it's worth the wait, believe you me! :)

it is my first year growing these and yes they take longer to grow larger and flower than many other kinds of chilis.

it`s growth is behind all other plants i have growing but give it time and it will do it`s thing.

My Ghosts are at least as big as the other Chinense I started at the same time, but only one has any pods yet. Out of all the 34 SuperHots I am growing this year, only the Douglahs and these JPGS x Primo crosses are behind the Red Bhuts.

So, I wouldn't worry too much, but like Lespaulde said, you might be overwatering... And I think that your plants are too small to be fruiting anyhow. So, for now, just keep trying to grow right and try to be patient....

Looks like some signs of environmental stress (pic 1 water transpiration issues) and burning (pic 2 burned leaf tips and margins). Could have to do with the hardening-off and plant-out process and possibly also how long they might have stayed in somewhat small containers earlier.  Plus, after potting up they're likely to concentrate energy on increasing their root mass versus foliage growth for while. All those things can slow plants down some.

I see good lateral development on pic 1 especially.  I'd say they're getting ready to show increased growth but, like others say, they're going to grow and produce on their own schedule.

p3pp3rz your ghost looks great!
