Black fuzz

I started seed using the paper towel method on the 26th. I checked them this morning and some of them are making black spots on the paper towel and are growing black hair. Are these seed rotting or is this a normal part of the process?

They don't sound good to me. Probably some sort of disease or rot.
The seeds should look basically the same as they did when you take them out as when you put them in
with the addition of the little root coming out of them.

sounds like mold to me....... but I may be wrong but I do think that it is a kind of mold

Sounds like mold to me too. Have had the same thing on some of my seeds in the past, when they got too wet. Sure enough those seeds did not germinate. Not sure how to get rid of it once its there though.
