Is there any among us that has grown this as a start from a nursery that was ordered online? Or perhaps there is someone here that deals with rooted cuttings.
I am aware that Reimer and a few other places sell the seed but am looking for a rooted cutting from a reputable grower.
From what I read it seems hard to grow (at least from seeds). I had found this http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2175/ It says 6 vendors have it for sale and some of them sell piper nigrum as a plant. I hope that helps.
I found the same info on DG. As well as other sites but before I spend up to $45 on a plant that I haven't seen, I need a warm fuzzy. One of the sites has a picture of the plants for sale that definitely has health issues. Most sites seen to have just a few plants in the inventory as well.
Those things make me leary to buy unseen.
I tried it from seed bought at the store. They didnt come up. i wasnt too surprised, but you never know. I recently grew peanuts from peanuts I bought from the store.....
so far my peppercorn hasnt sprouted. it does say that it takes up to 3 month on the directions this is where I bought my seeds---> https://www.horizonherbs.com/product.asp?specific=2724 I also found plants for 13.50 each with shipping 13.50 = 27.00--->http://companionplants.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=304
if you go to wholefoods, i would say 99 % of the seeds, beans and nuts will grow.and I think peppercorn is treated to keep it from sprouting in the container. most likely there drying method
