Blue Point Hoptical Illusion...

Picked up a 6 pack of this a few weeks ago. Very citrusy and piney aroma. Bitter but not as hoppy flavored as you'd expect from the aroma and name, maltiness taking up the rear for a decent balance. Was definitely a good beer, i'd give it a B.

I like it because I don't like the hops to take over. I agree though by the name you would expect that. But here it's perfect for me. Everyone has a different preference so I don't grade beers if they are quality.

Wait... it's hoptical illusion..... so maybe the name fits ;)

Awesome little creep-up hoppy aftertate that lasts one second.

I was thinking the same thing after i finished the 5th one! I was like hey, it IS a hoptical Illusion. You smell it, the bottle suggests it...

I don't mean it was a B quality beer. My grades aren't really objective grades, just my priorities i guess. Like if my A list beers were available for the same price, i'd go with those. The beers on my B list are usually less $$ than my A beers and are usually my everyday brews.

Have you tried Hoptimus Prime? I think you'd like that one alot. Similar to hoptical but it's a double IPA.

I'll check it out if I see it.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's aptly named. It's a mellow hoppiness for an IPA.

My sister is giving birth there right now (give or take an hour or so) I will do my damnedest to get some bluepoint to celebrate.

Love the Hoptical expensive here I paid 11$ for a six pack -- It is fantastic on tap -- Have you tried the Rastafarian Rye?
Have you ever tried Boulder Beer Hoptical Illusion or a recent fave Flashback Anniverary ale?

No on all accounts! I also paid $11.

Agreed. Your first thought is any play on words with hop in it should be a very hop heavy brew. Than after drinking it and thinking more about the name you realize that is an Illusion.

Illusions in beer names......not exactly cool!
;)

i really like boulders hazed & infused and flashback. one of these days i will have to take a tour of the brewery, which is less then 2 hrs away.

I haven't been drinking much at all lately but this is one I'm going to look for this week. I love hops and really love the name, hopefully it's got some Cascade in there.
