BONSAI!

Are you doing a full blown bonsai project, or are you just dwarfing the plant for over-wintering? Mine get dwarfed but then put back into full production in the spring

I just want to have a cool little plant to look at all the time Potawie, i will be over-wintering some others though.

I hereby proclaim that number 1 shall be put under the knife in the name of science and fun!
It has less little branches to worry about and it also seems to be the strongest and thats good for a Bonchi noob like me :D

Hey Nova, just remember when you are cutting and grooming and getting everything just right..................we love pictures.

How big do these bonsai chile plants end up? Or what is the goal anyway?
The goal is to have a mini producing chilli plant, as for how big they end up that's really up to you. Have a look at this link that SL kindly provided- http://www.fatalii.net/growing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=95&Itemid=105

Have you ever used hydroponics bonsai products before Nova? I guess it would help if ya had some just layin around.

My votes No# 1

No i have never Bonsai hydroponioc gear, didn't even know that it existed! :)

Some Giggleweed growers use the bonsai solution on plants for the first month or so to stunt growth but it still allows new branches to form.

Not sure if I want pics of Nova grooming, maybe you can ask him to e-mail them to you?

here's a link about bonchi (bonsai chile) from member e.z.'s blog page-
http://www.fatalii.net/growing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=95&Itemid=105

and here's the link to her blog page. scroll down a little to the talk of bonsai-
http://www.chiliez.com/search/label/cultivation

these look like a lot of fun. We might try one with SalsaKid.

I'd go for #2 or #4, but i don't know if they are supposed to have lots of branches or none.

Well, after looking at the Bonchi site there shouldn't be any doubts regarding transplanting and root trimming and any other questions about plant care. Excellent!!! +10. Cheers. :)

I have wanted to do the bonsai thing for sometime now and every time I read about it, it just reignites the fire in me to do it. Maybe this year will be the year. Good luck
