Pepper Dew isn't a variety of Pepper!
It is a pepper pickling process.
Yes different Cherry peppers are used to make it.
I'd assume,A LAND RACE variety is used for the original stuff.
I have 3+ varieties the person said was what is the same as the stuff they use...

The calyx doesn`t look right for a C.baccatum variety. Did you get green spotted flowers? Pods can be decent sized, so I wouldn`t rule it out on size alone, but pods pointing up is a problem.

Peppadew is a trademarked name for a landrace C.baccatum in/from South Africa and the process of stuffing/pickling. Look at Malawi Piquante, which is the same pepper, errrrrr, sorry, astonishingly similar pepper (wouldn`t want to upset the trademark holder, wink, wink).

I think that the Baccaum and whatever STILL makes little differrense.
I DO think variety has nothing to make the difference as far as the end product goes.
Popular opinion on the net as far as Species is TO ME suspect to speculation.
WE are talking GENERALLY about a pickled END Product,Peppa Dew..
NOT a variety of pepper.
It;s about the product process.
As I posted,Probably a Land Race variety of Cherry type pepper.
Yes I do think C.Bac. Type is a choice to play with.
BUT I see not many round Bac, even close in size that fits the bill.
I have C.Bac. and C, Ann. seeds from sources that say they are in the Know or?

I THINK i have 2 BAC, AND ANOTHER THAT Is an Annum cross.
I don't care for Peppa Dew.
I DO think Peppa Dew IS a pickling thing-NOT a specific pepper!

I never heard that Peppa Dew was a variety of pepper.
I think the pepper IS a C.Baccatum.
Not an Annum Cherry Pepper.

As I said,I think Pickling is what matters.

You are right, it is a trademark. I love those peppadew 's so much. I saw the same one I have at the nursery and it seems to get close to tennis ball size before ripening.

Have no idea what it is , was supposed to be "Mustard Hab" but the seed stock I got has thrown out about 4 different plants from the one batch so far so I'm thinking it was a typical "Scam" batch of odds and ends lol.. Im enjoing waiting to see what I have, MORE, than knowing they were mustard habs lol ..
