BrandonB's 2019 glog!!

Wanted to wait until some signs of life were showing before starting the glog, and here we are.

Will be an outdoor container grow in humid north Florida. Will probably end with at least 10 cultivars.

Hopefully the heat and pests will be kind to me this season!!

Without further ado some 7 pot choccy and sepia serpent that are just starting their lives! Will be putting about 5 more varieties into towels tonight!!   Also i apologize for the terrible quality, im a shaky fella and my phone is rather poor. :D

(How long do you guys usually let radicles go before putting into medium?)

looks like ive burnt most of my plants, i know for certain that the soil isnt too hot,  if anything the soil is extremely light, my only guess is that ive killed the bunch with neem.   Anyone have any experience with leaf burn/wilting after using neem?  Doesnt seem like pest damage at all, its way too spread across the entire leave and effected every plant simultaneously.   Im thinking its something i put on them.

The leaves are getting dark at the tips and thinning out until browning.  Will post some pictures later, as of now it looks like most of the crop is hit pretty hard.

That's really crappy.  Hope they can pull through.  I don't have direct experience with neem burn, but I would assume like many foliar treatments there would be concerns over the concentration used, pre-hydrating the plant properly, and avoiding spraying during times of high heat and/or direct sun.  Perhaps you'll be able to simply remove dead leaves or cut off the dying ends of branches and the plants would recover - ?  The base structure of an otherwise healthy plant might well recover more quickly than starting over again.  Definitely post pics for people to give feedback.

+1 CD - pix would help.

Couldn't like that last post, Brandon.
What a bummer.

I have never had a problem with NEEM burn.
Which plants were affected? Inside? Outside?

Edit: The plant with weird cotys was damaged in helmet head removal. Was going fine before this though.

All plants are outdoors just in two locations. Young plants aren't affected though pests weren't really touching them either.

Neem was pre mix store bought, sprayed full sun like a fool. I usually spray extremely diluted pyrethrin and have no problems even in full sun.

90% of my new growth has turned to brown hay. With burnt tips but overall less damage to previous growth.

Soil mix is 2 cu ft potting soil, 2 cu ft coco, 1 cubic ft peat, 4 handfuls of worm castings. It is then portioned into containers. I really don't think the soil is too hot.

Pretty positive it was neem burn, when googling been burn the product I bought came up a few times, I'm gonna shy away from it.

And excuse my thumb in every photo lololol

The wife came through with some Bonnie plants while my germs start.

Should still be on track for a great season if all goes well.

And what are you guys opinions on bud pinching on small plants. One of the habs she bought is starting to bud at a foot tall and I'm thinking of pinching. Would just like to hear your thoughts.

Will post pictures of the new cheater plants and of what I have left from round one.

Happy growing guys!!

Been raining for about a day and a half. Finally could get some pics in.

First picture is the plants i plan on hitting with a touch of Alaskan fish.

Other picture is some store bought annuums a hab and a red ghost. Both chinense looked pretty rough but all the plants are doing well. They will get fed as well when they dry out a little.

Any flower anatomy experts out there able to identify the "second stem" on my nasturtium flowers? Can't say I've ever seen this and I grow hundreds of flowers yearly. I imagine it has some function.

Peppers on the road to summer, Brandon!
Looks like you will have a nice grow despite
the Neem experience.

Thanks Paul, and as I've noticed many times in life, the mishap paved way for a better situation. I think I'll like my current selection better.

Whatchu guys think the issue is here? I have an idea but I'd like to hear yours!!

Edit: excuse my silly ole lady

Weekly picture dump, plants are taking off now, the Nagabrains yellow has all but lost its purple but doubled in size. Excuse the woman again she can't help herself. Last week this cayenne didn't touch the handle, it's done great so far! All the germinating varieties are starting to show tails so wish me luck on round 2.5!!!
