I can't see it's front but looks like either an assasin bug or a damsel bug.  Both are beneficial.  Hope this helps!

Assassin bug. Leave him around, he'll take care of caterpillars and beetles for you.

     I agree with everybody that it's some kind of assassin bug. They're a great bug to have on your side in the garden. Just a word of warning, they bite. HARD!
