Bumper's 2022-23 Australian grow

Hi everyone,

My first chilli grow since 2017!! It's been a long time since I have been on here, I had a bad fall which shattered my elbow, snapping bones, tearing ligaments and all that fun stuff, so life went sideways for quite a while. But I'm now able to grow again and in the garden happily hanging with the birds and bees in Spring. Less so the ongoing minor flooding with all the rain down here, but it is shaping up to be a heck of a growing season in southern Australia.

Fresh seeds from The Hippy Seed Co. Neil and Charlotte are awesome, their stock always grow true for me. 3 x Naga-bon, 1 x chiro de norte, 2 x aji pineapple, 1 x yellow siam and 2 x japanese takanotsume. All enjoying their first day of full sunshine in their new pots after starting in the tent inside a couple of months ago. A few excess plants also went to the neighbours, I hate to toss healthy plants and glad to rehome them.

Cheers,

B

@Bumper, good to see you back. Shattered anything is never good. Glad you're able to get back to growing peppers. Nice list from a great source. Nagabon has been one of my favorites for years and I grow it quite often. Good luck this season. I'll be following along.

Thanks! Nagabon is one of my favourites too, they are just awesome for smoked powders and sauces, and that's why they're in the biggest grow bags. ;) I like to cold smoke them with cherry wood before dehydrating or making bbq sauce, they are such a versatile chilli. The others are new to grow, although I have grown lemon drop before. I want to make a bunch of asian style pickles and sauces this year, so needed the flavour profiles as well as the raw heat for the mix.

Good luck with your season Bumper - hope you have a good one. Well, I hope it goes better than the rugby 😁🀣 I ordered some Nagabons from The chilli Factory few months back and still waiting to receive them. Our postal system sucks. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how your Nagabons turn out - I am also a huge fan of them.

Thanks PeriPeri. The Hippy Seed Company might be worth a try, they ship internationally and always have fresh nagabon seeds as they use it in a couple of their signature bbq sauces. They do state on their website that it will take 6+ weeks for African orders. And lol, don't get me started on the Wannabes, not the Wallabies of old, that's for sure.

Lol Wannabes - never heard that before. Up there with the best in my books. Our side has been up and down lots too. It’s them pesky Kiwis that keep winning stuff lol
Thanks for the referral. I will definitely check them
