Which pepper do you think I could plant without starting indoors? And is the hottest one in that categoryEdmick said:After last frost but I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. Reapers and other superhots need a long time to grow so it's best to start them inside and move them outside when danger of last frost is over.
I wouldn't try anything hotter than a habanero or scotch bonnet. Peppers germinate best at 80-85 degrees, and your soil might not be that warm consistently until April or May, and that is very late to start and have ripe peppers by end of season. Consider it may take 2-3 weeks to germinate AFTER your soil temps are 80 degrees, and nighttime lows will slow germination down. If you must start outdoors in the ground I would recommend planting some annums like jalapeño or serrano.Epicfire said:Which pepper do you think I could plant without starting indoors?
