can i pinch first set of true leaves?

i grow a lot of flowers and i can pinch first set of true leaves.  i wonder whether i can do the same thing with pepper seedling or not.
so i do experiment with 7pot bbg.

here's the result.

Keep us up to date on this - I'd be interested to see how the plant grows out. I assume it will fork immediately, but I will definitely follow this.

I've wondered this myself, but I was too wimpy to try it. Poor plant...   Thanks for experimenting!

Monsun season is still going strong in Thailand. I don't know in what part Lek lives but here in the south we just finally got a few dry days after 14 days of heavy rain.

Usually, they recommend topping later (so that the plant can continue photosynthesis, without using its stored energy to form new leaves). Growth is already so slow during the seedling stage. Older plants recover from pruning faster and are less vulnerable to disease and environmental conditions during this stressful time.
There's a guy with a video channel who lets them grow 6-7 leaf sets, then removes the whole shoot above the first true leaf set (just to get this same shape, but an older plant with more root mass).

Lek, your seedling is in worm castings?
It got the trichoderma treatment too?

i didn't water the seedling because the tray is outdoor and there is rain every day.   so YES, it's overwatering every day.  if seedlings are not strong enough, it will die very quickly.

i'm in BKK. there is rain every day, especially at night.

in this experiment, nope
my growing media made from selaginella kraussiana and some other organic matter.

there was flooding in my area last week.  most pepper seedlings sat in water but unfortunately  they're still alive.  i'll update a photo tomorrow morning.

Yeah they look rough thats for sure eh...Anything new on how these little guys are doing...are those slugs on the bottom right of the picture (my keyboard is buggered at the moment till I reboot so it wont let me put in question marks apologies)

Where on Earth do people get these loony ideas?

Yea, the plant has just spent ALL its energy germinating and building those two big leaves.
And whacking them off is supposed to give it mutant superpowers or something?

I never said I thought it was a good idea but I am still pretty curious to see what happens :) glad they arent my plants.
