Thanks for the heads-up!
Though I will still look around the London area for ripe peppers to dry out.
Yet another question..what is the best way to ripen/dry out peppers for seed cultivation?
At the moment I have some under my growing area (the dry heat from the lights helps to keep them from rotting), and I have some outside in a metal basket I made from 1/4" chicken wire (keep the squirrels away from them, but wonder how a squirrel would react to eating a hot pepper!
!)
Well, As to my question about seeing a squirrel eating a hot pepper...
Got a little story for yahs!
Early one morning, while enjoying a cup of tea and my porridge (YUMMY!), I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. So looking outside on the balcony (I am at that time 5 stories up). I see a big Grey squirrel resting on my outdoor recliner, and sure enough, it had a very nice sized Crimson Hot Pepper in it's mouth!!!!
The LITTLE *&$)!##@!!!!!
Before I did anything, it started to act really WEIRD. The little bugger was rubbing it's face on the recliner. So realizing what was going on I started to laugh...
The squirrel had bitten into more than it realized
, though not a very hot pepper, Crimson Hots can stiull have a nice burn. Even more so to an unsuspecting "innocent" grey squirrel.
It kept this up for a few minutes (I was almost crying from laughing so hard
, I chased it off and it left in a hurry...NOT taking the pepper with it!
Thats when I realized that the squirrel had the last laugh though, looking over my plants, it had dug out some of my better plants AND plucked my ripened or close to ripened hot peppers.
...sigh...
From that point on, I decided to cage up my plants. No more squirrel issues!
