After an enthusiastic endorsement from my sister, I agreed to germinate some seeds for her. I kept a couple for myself as well. This is basically a fuzzy tomatillo with marble-sized, intensely sweet fruit. The plant grows like a monster, and I yanked out the one I had in the ground because it was starting to crowd out my peppers. It is also a magnet for potato leaf beetles and the only plant in my yard that really has an uncontrolled pest problem. I'll probably dispose of the potted plant as well--it looks like crap with all the holes and eaten leaves. The yield is also pretty pathetic, but it might get heavier later in the season.

Would I grow them again? Eh... maybe with some better planning--a larger space separate from the area where I am trying to grow without spraying. The plant was a reservoir for flea beetles--which chewed little holes in my pepper leaves before getting attacked by the potato leaf beetles. On the plus side the berries are very tasty--extra extra sweet and faintly tomato-y in flavor.
