I've obviously never had menstrual cramps, but I've experienced severe capsaicin cramps many times. You know, the kind when it feels like someone punched right through your abdomen, grabbed a handful of your intestines and twisted them into a knot?
It happened to me last weekend at a film fest in which my friend had a film playing. A bunch of us met up for drinks before the film, and I brought several bags of superhot powder to give away. An acquaintance said she loved heat, and can never order food hot enough, and yadda yadda yadda, so I gave her a bag of my hottest powder along with a warning. About five minutes later she starts freaking out after adding some to her bloody mary. It was too hot for her to drink, so she offered it to me. She had only had one sip of it, and I didn't want to see perfectly good booze go to waste so I said sure. Sure enough, it was wicked hot but I powered through it. I started getting that familiar feeling and asked her how much powder she put in the drink. She promptly produced an almost empty baggie from her purse! I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw it. I had just ingested about two tablespoons of 7 pot powder (a mix of Douglah, Primo, Barrackpore, etc.) on an almost empty stomach. Everyone finished their drinks and we proceeded next door to the movie theatre. I tried my best to ignore the pain as we got tickets and sat down. Nope. There was no ignoring this pain. I excused myself and went back out to the lobby and bought a giant tub of popcorn with extra butter. I got more than a few strange looks as I paced back and forth sweating and shoveling popcorn into my mouth as fast as I could, but I didn't know what else to do. Luckily, about ten minutes of that brought the pain level down to a tolerable level and I was able to go back in the theatre and sit through the movie. It was a series of four or five short films and my friend's was last, so I didn't really miss anything.
Anyway, on the way home my wife asked what the big deal was, and basically called me a big baby. She has never had cap cramps, but insists that there is no way they could be worse than menstrual cramps. I don't personally know any females that would ingest enough capsaicin to get bad cramps from it, so that's why I'm asking here. I know it's a weird question, but are there any females here that have experienced severe capsaicin cramps, and can compare them to menstrual cramps? I know the severity of both menstrual and cap cramps differ from person to person, but I'm curious what y'all have to say.
