condiment Captain Morgan Barbecue Sauce

This bbq sauce recipe is based on Kansas City style sauce, which is a thick, sweet red sauce. For this recipe, you will need...

2-15 ounce cans of tomato sauce
1/2 cup Captain Morgan Private Stock rum
3/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cane sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to boil for 30 to 45 minutes, uncovered, to reduce the sauce.

Sugar, molasses, AND brown sugar (which is sugar and molasses) seems a bit redundant, and no liquid smoke for me, but other than that sounds good!

the recipe works really well, sticky sweet, and sure beats buying from the store..lol

usually no liquid smoke for me either but sometimes you gotta add smoke flavor when you are using the sauce as a condiment and not cooking with it.

as for the different sugars, well they all give a different flavor

brown sugar is made by adding cane molasses to it, but the sugars are made from beets.

and of course cane sugar is made from sugar cane..lol

take for example, coke you drink in USA, tastes different than you drink in mexico or canada, different sugars are used.

Yeah I know they're different, never used all three though.

The liquid smoke is a no-no when smoking (which makes sense), but yeah, it's okay for burgers and such. Too much though tastes funny.

Just noticed another sugar; honey hehe.
