Carolina Reaper Size ... LOL

Hey guys and gals.  Any idea what might be causing this hilarious issue I'm having?
 
Peppers started out relatively small but OK (smaller than a golf ball) but now several are doing this:

I guess they are just less twisted looking when they are the size of a pea.  Lol
 
I figured it might be this little cold front we got that forced them to turn before growing.
 
boans those look pretty smooth to be reapers
 
reapers are pretty small i think this is what helps them be superhot... placenta to flesh ratio is higher than most other peppers means they are much hotter in aggregate.
