cayenne leaves turning black?

hi,
so im fairly new here and new to growing too! which is probably part of the reason i havent got a clue whats wrong with my cayenne plants.
theyre just about to start flowering and over the last few days the leaves seem to be gradually turning black. after reading a bit i see it could be some form of fungus? i still dont know what to do though. they dont seem wilted in any way. also as you can see in the pictures a few of the leaves have small holes in them. i dont know if this is related or not. any help appreciated.

Try uploading images to http://imgur.com/ then resizing and copy and pasting the for messageboards link they give (choose edit and resize to 800x600 or similar size). i kind of gradually started putting them out in the morning about a month back but taking them back in at night and was careful not to let them get too much direct sunlight until recently. i only repotted them about 2 weeks agoish. im now starting to notice that the top layer of soil in the containers is turning green. is that normal?
 
I'd say it's sun damage, and that the green on the soil is algae = to damp soil.

Let the soil dry out and don't worry about the leaves.
 
I get plants that look like that when they're in poor potting soil mix with bad drainage and low root oxygen, but my leaves would be a tad more yellow than yours.

I see no Perlite in your potting mix, and algae only thrives in an environment that is "too wet".

Besides Perlite, you may need more drainage holes cut into the bottom of that container.
 
thanks for the replies guys! the 2 worst ones are in a jamie oliver potting mix, and the rest are in a lidl mix that i thought id try because it was quite cheap. then again i suppoose you get what you pay for. i havent been using any nutrients because the potting mix had some nutrients in it already and the only spray ive used is soapy water to kill a few bugs here and there. temperature varies between about 18 and 10 degrees celcius and according to msn weather, the humidity at the moment is 94% (i dont have a hygrometer), im not really sure of humidity or what effect it has?! :S

i did notice today that the 2 worst affected dont have many holes in the bottom of the container and i added a few more today with my trusty screwdriver. i dont know why i didnt put enough holes in the first place.

jetchuka the leaves have gone a small bit more yellow than whats shown in the pics. i did figure it could be something to do with drainage so i have stopped watering them the last few days.

also do you reckon i should pull the plants from the potting mix and add some perlite or just leave the soil dry out? they dont seem to have gotten too much worse since i stopped watering.

Even though you drilled a few more holes, i would still replace/amend the soil. Within a week or so you should see a pretty dramatic turnaround.

I'd also start separating them into larger containers.

Good luck either way.
