chenzos...enough space?

Found some containers with supports connected of Chenzo peppers at walmart. They had them marked off 50%. There is 3 plants to each 2.6gallon container. Don't really know much about the type to know if I should put them into something else or into the ground. Just looking for thoughts on if their containers are big enough at all. There is a bunch of peppers already on a few of the planters.
 
 Depends on how big and how much yield you are looking for. Bigger the better. I would go in the ground if it was up to me.
