Man robbed on SG highway was blinded with chili powder

In a daring incident, an Angadia firm worker was robbed at SG Highway opposite YMCA club late on Monday night. Two unidentified people stopped the worker who was traveling in an auto-rickshaw and blinded him with chili power before he was robbed of his valuables. This was the second incident in which a man was robbed at SG Highway, a supposedly safer place in the city.
After initial confusion over the jurisdiction among Satellite, Anandnagar and Sarkhej police station officials, the case was finally lodged with Anandnagar police.
According to cops, Lachubhai R Sharma, 45, a resident of Shyam Vihar Bungalow in Thaltej, was on his way to Navrangpura to deliver a parcel. "Sharma was traveling in an auto-rickshaw. At 10 pm another rickshaw overtook him and stopped right in front of him. Before Sharma and his driver could realise the intention, two unidentified people approached them and threw chilli power in their eyes," cops said.
According to the cops, the assaulters beat Sharma and his driver. They snatched the parcel containing machinery parts from Sharma and his cell phone, and ran away along with their auto-rickshaw. In total, the miscreants drove away with valuables worth over Rs75,000
