Clear or translucent? Cold Frame

Which plastic would be better for a coldframe/really small greenhouse? I notice most greenhouses use the translucent plastic but I'm not sure that would let in enough light to harden off plants. Or I could go with translucent on the sides and clear on the top.

It will hold only 12 tray flats.

I would probably go with translucent. figure most glass greenhouses are whitewashed....

Up here in Ontario we use clear plastic(or glass) in the spring and fall, but add shade cloth(or whitewash) in the summer. Its easy to add a shade cloth to any existing setup when needed
