Compmodder26's 2015

And so it begins!!

Well planning anyway...

I've put together my grow list for the year.  I'm scaling back the number of varieties, opting instead to grow more of each variety.

Here's what I will have going:
Mild-Medium:
Banana x3
Jalapeno x3
Huge Bell x3
Orange Bell x3
Orchid/Bishop's Hat x2

Supers (Yellow)
Yellow 7 Pot Brainstrain x4

Supers (Red) -
Monster Naga x5
7 Pot Caramel x5

Supers (Brown) -
7 Pot Brown x7
Brown Moruga Scorpion x7

I will be planting the supers on Feb. 1 and the rest will be started on Mar. 1.

This is the tentative layout for the community garden:

I'll be back on in a few weeks!

Plants are hardened and all planted out now.

Here's a shot of all 3 subplots:

Right most subplot.  Contains Brown Moruga Scorpions (6) and 7 Pot Browns (6):

Middle Subplot.  Contains Yellow Brainstrains (2), Monster Naga (5), and Caramel 7 Pots (5):

Left most subplot.  Contains Brown Moruga Scorpion (1), 7 Pot Brown (1), Yellow Brainstrain (2), Orchid/Bishop's Hat (2), Giant Jalapeno (3), Huge Bell (3), Orange Bell (3), and Banana (3).  A note on this subplot.  Originally, the Brown Moruga, 7 Pot Brown, and Yellow Brainstrains were supposed to be with the other plants of the same variety in their respective subplots.  Well apparently, I horribly mis-measured how big the plot was and could only fit 3 4x6 subplots.  So I grouped the annums and baccatums into single squares instead of using a checkerboard pattern (since they typically are smaller than chinenses) so I could fit the remaining chinenses I had left.

Final shot is to show that the soil fungal life is still very active in my plot.  Here's slime mold that I ran across:

Congrats on getting the plants in the ground Brian. Plants look nice and happy. I like the plot. I need to get something like that in the works.

Thanks Chuck!  If I didn't have the community garden, I wouldn't have the space to grow near as many plants as I'd like.  It really has been a blessing.  And at $20/year, it's a real steal as well.

Once again, I'm slacking on my updates.  Life getting the better of me, I suppose.  Anyway, the peppers didn't fare so well after their transplants into the soil.  They started showing signs of N deficiency.  And to top it off, I waited too long to react, thinking perhaps they just needed to get acclimated.  Two weeks ago, I finally wisened up gave them a dose of some nitrogen, followed up by a second dose this week.  They are starting to bounce back now.  Looks like I might be continuing with the regimen throughout the growing season.

I was hoping that this year with the RCW (second season) that I wouldn't have to supplement, but it doesn't appear to be the case.

On a positive note, I just had my first harvest of banana pepper pods.  Getting poddage for Huge Bell, Orange Bell, Giant Jalapeno, Banana, Bishop's Hat, and Monster Naga.

"N" deficiency is typical the first year using RCW. THP member "windchicken" put down Osmocote to make up for it. I wish I could get my hands on RCW.

Yeah, I remember Gary doing that.  And I expected the N deficiency last year, but was hopeful that this year would be different.  But it doesn't appear so.

Started watching your reviews on YT, congratulations for those and for your Glog!   ;)
Thanks a lot!  Unfortunately, I've had to give up the review game.  Time constraints get in the way and my stomach really can't take eating the raw superhots whole any more.

They look good to me B . Very common for the shock . Once they get settled in they will green up and bud up nicely :)
Thanks Jamie.  I hope they do.  Probably gonna keep up with weekly doses of nutrients just to be safe though.

You're using 100% hard wood?

The garden looks great Brian. Like others have said they'll catch up. You have a long season. It will be a jungle soon.

Thanks for sharing and don't be a stranger. LOL
