cone9 2017 Glog: seeds, meet media; media, meet moisture; moisture, meet seeds

After a lazy January I finally got under way today.  I'll deal with some pics once there is something to see other than nothing to see.

The final (well...maybe, maybe not) list, in no particular disorder:

Ms Junie 1
Aji Llaneron 1

Peach Bhut Jolokia 1 - seed from peppers that grew from last years Not White Bhut Jolokia seed

Not White Bhut Jolokia 1- last year this seed yielded a damn good Peach Bhut

Shishito 3
Aji Angelo 1

Jalapeno Yellow 2 or 3

Aji Jobito 2 or 3

Cream Fatalii 2 or 3

Aji White Lightning Bolt 1

Tepin x Lemon Drop F5  1 or 2

7 Pot White 1
Brazilian Starfish 1

Santorini Episkopi Gonia 1

Sugar Rush Orange 1

Dong Xuan Market 2 or 3

Aji Rosita Yellow 1 or 2
Legacy Big Jim 2 or 3
Kampanaki 1 or 2

Bhut Jolokia White 1

Dolmalik Biber 2 or 3
Rocoto Marlene 1

Ecuadorian Sweet Rocoto 1

Manzano Yellow 1
Rocoto Yellow 1

I wanted to cut back on the number of varieties this year.  Twenty-five still looks like a lot to me but it's ten less than I started with last year.
But, with the multiples I may still be looking at more plants than last year.  Another year of pots all over the yard!

I grew Urfa Biber a couple seasons back and really like it pickled.  I may add it to the list (if I can find my seed) and/or Aleppo.

I can also hear Pimenta de Neyda whining from the seed box for attention.  I know I had one plant in my grow room last year but when it was time to plant I didn't.  I repeatedly looked over the plants outside, then went back to the basement to check, then looked over them all a couple more times. I never figured out what happened.  Me being delusional, I guess

This was very good.  I must get a better yield out of these!
Hey, Dave. You might try growing several varieties if you have room.
You will find one that does well, or at least as well as local climate allows.
In my own case, peruvian Orange Manzanos are like yours - one or two
pods from a plant that take forever to ripen.  On the other hand, peruvian
Red Rocotos perform well here, maybe a dozen pods per plant, and some
nice big ones. So, no more Orange Manzanos!

Good luck finding your favorite!

 Happy New Year!

Hi Paul - been a while!

That's my plan.  I hope to grow 6 to 8 varieties, some in ground, some in pots, see if I can get a combo that does better than ONE POD!
I am wintering-over the plant above to see if it does more as a 2 yo.  It's in the basement now under lights.  I'll have a jump start but I suspect it will mainly come down to needing enough warm, daylight hours and nights without the chilly air before even the mature plant will do much!

Dave
