Datil seeds

I am looking for a couple of Datil seeds. Would anyone be willing to send any? I don't have many seeds yet, but I do have some on order that I should receive next week and I would be willing to do a swap or something.

I am new to the chile pepper growing so my experience, knowledge and seeds are limited.

Here's what I have.

Bhut Jolokia x 8
Hot Banana Pepper x 12

Choc Habanero
Paprika Pepper

There always seems to be a lot of bad datil seeds going around so I always recommend that people buy these particular seeds from their source location of St. Augustine florida where they have been growing for hundreds of years. If you really need to trade just make sure the source seeds come from a good healthy, productive plant
 
Another source for good datil seed is the NMSU Chile Pepper Institute. They just started offering these for the 2010 growing seasin, and I ordered from them in January. They were some of my best performers in the germination station, but I don't have any left over seeds to send you since I used them all :(
 
They sell all of their varieties for $4.00 a 20-25 seed pack (Bhuts are $6.00), and there is a minimum order of $15.00 before shipping. That wasn't too much of a big deal for me, since I bought other varieties I needed as well (Tabasco & Bhut Jolokia).
 
Datils are awesome, I will have plenty of datil seeds once I start to harvest my pods, and as mentioned there are alot of bad Datil seeds going around. I live in Florida and my seeds come directly from a local St.Augustine grower, as a matter of fact in the coming months I will be working on a website that will provide true St.Augustine Datil seeds "DatilSeeds.com" since I have no interest in being a seed seller myself I will still be sending out free seed from my crop to any THP members interested. , I am just partnering with a grower and I will be handling the website side of things.

On a somewhat related note, I plan on trying to make a cross between the Datil and Fatali so I can sell seeds on eBay for $10.00 a piece, and call it the "Infinity + 1 Pepper". Additionally, I plan on giving all THPers a special 50% discount! But seriously, I am going to try it, and I actually got the idea for the "Datali" from a thread on here not too long ago ;)

No real expectations other than hopefully a scorcher of a yellow pointy pod, and being able to call it a cool name like Datali. Maybe they will be easier to cross since they are kind of similar? It's mainly just for fun and curiosity really.
 
the super datil looks nothing like a datil , they should atleast call it what it is a datil x fatalii or datalli like mentioned above more false advertising from seed sellers, no mention of it being a cross

I know the datil and fatalli are similar in taste not heat but once you cross a datil with something, and you alter shape, taste and heat it then ceases to be what makes a datil a datil.

i would think a good cross would be yellow 7 pod and datil that will be even hoter and carry both of the 2 flavors

Yea I grew this last year with the help of my good friend AJ :cool: very hot and every bit of a Datil/Fatelli combo grew like a datil. But wow -- they should have called it a Fatil
