Datil way off pheno

http://imgur.com/yi4tF4I
I topped this plant several times before allowing it to set fruit. Less than a foot tall; about 4 months old.
The plant is from seed: F3 sweet datil. At the time of harvest, I wasn't growing anything but datils. Where I live, there's practically zero chance it was cross-pollinated.
The flowers were unusually large. One or two others pollinated, but i removed one and the other senesced because this pod was already ballooning.
So, am I correct in my assessment that the size & shape of this pod are a result of delayed fruiting?
