Not at all, Van...borrow away. I got the storage bin from Home Depot and the Mylar blankets from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GCRWCG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1...you get 10 of them for like $6.45 , I only used one. I'm thinking of setting up another one with one of those Red/blue LED grow lights just to see if it works any different. One thing I was going to change about my setup is cut holes in the lid above the top of the lamp to let it breathe better...the back of the lamp seems to get a bit warm and I don't want to damage it.

It's amazing how much waste heat those T5s put out isn't it?

I did something similar by enclosing a tabletop in 1/2 inch styrene board with the foil side facing inward, and taping the joints with Gorilla Tape. This'll be my third year using it, and it works great!

Seems as if you need some air flow in that tote. You just might bake them seedlings IMO.
Id cut a hole on both sides and get a fan blowing in there.

I drilled holes in the lid, plus I keep it propped open ....temps stay in the high 80s so I'm good.

Had to upgrade the grow tent and move it out to the garage, so the wife doesn't have to smell the fish ferts. Made a 2ft x 4ft frame with 1" PVC, then covered it with Mylar emergency blanket material and duct tape. I think it came out pretty good for less than $20. I still need to finish setting it up and upgrading a few plants to Solo cups. I may get a bigger grow light...the one in there now is a 2ft - 4 bulb T5. I have some red/blue LED light strips I wanted to hook up first to see if that helps. Any suggestion for improvement?

Out of the 13 different types of seeds I initially planted, I had 10 sprout. So I planted some more to put in the grow tent. The rectangle containers are used baby food containers, I like that they fit well in a 10x20 tray (you can get 24 to fit 3x8). Just drilled some holes in the bottom and fill. Hoping to get about 30 -40 plants this year with about 19 different varieties. Getting a 450w LED light next week to see how that works, http://www.ebay.com/itm/MarsHydro-Reflector-450w-Led-Grow-Light-Power-cord-Flower-Veg-Switch-Lamp-Panel-/390741818306?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5afa06fbc2. It's a little longer than the one that is in there now and should give me more coverage.

Good ghetto growing skills man! I like the idea of turning used baby food containers into pots, and the grow tent looks effective. How cold is it in your garage?

The Brown Moruga and the Trinidads I grew last year, I didn't overwinter anything I might try this year.

Right now its getting down to the mid 60's at night and upper 70's low 80's during the day. Going to clean the green house out this week and set up a few heaters in there, I probably should have done that earlier this winter...oh well.

Nope... it's unexplored territory for me too, but the lights sure are bright! Good luck with them, and please be sure to let us know how they work out for you in terms of cost of electricity to run them and plant growth under them. :party:

Last year my germination rate was above 90%, but my greenhouse wasn't ready and I only got about 20 of 60 plants to the greenhouse. It was in August and we had just had a baby in May so the plants kind of got put on the back burner....and they ended up trashed. This year I was ready to grow, but my germination rates are sucking ass, probably around 40%. I even started less seeds this year so I could make sure, I could handle all of them. Only seeded 26 and 11 sprouted. Then I seeded about 15 more and only 6 of those sprouted. The only thing I changed is last year I used Jiffy pellets and this year I bought some no name pellets 100pk off Amazon. Anyway I took the few plants I have and moved them up to Solo cups and they really seem to take off...will be going to 5 gallon root bags soon.

Here are some late bloomers I had...might of replanted them too soon.

Here is a Cherokee Purple tomato plant I bought at Home Depot 2 weeks ago...it was half that height when I bought it. Seems the LED grow lights are doing ok so far.

I had the same thing happen to me this year bro', so don't feel alone. :rolleyes:

I had indifferent germination and the plants that did sprout mostly stalled or grew very slowly. I planted in-ground when the nights finally got up into the 40s but the weather turned hot and dry virtually overnight and my tiny seedlings burned up. I ended up losing 16 plants... mostly Annuums, so they're easily replaceable. It hurt to lose most of the Frutascens and all of the Baccatums and Pubiscens varieties though. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I finally moved everything out to the greenhouse, only had about 20 plants that germinated out of about 40. We had a heat spell the week I moved them so they are still adjusting but a few have really jumped up in size from where the were in the Solo cups. I also installed the auto irrigation system. The first day I forgot to change the settings (15 min 2 times a day) from when I was leak testing and watered too much, but it all stayed in the reservoir and I let just them bottom water for a little over a week (that's where the green slime comes from). Luckily no mosquitoes yet. Now its just set for 5 min every 4 days and I will adjust from there. I'm still trying to decide if I should go with stakes, tomato cages or hook lines.
