DawgNutts 2015 Grow Log

I'm starting a few weeks late this year, but I have the greenhouse in the backyard ready to go. Plus I cut down my number of plants this year so I could manage them better.

Grow list for this year.

Bhut Jolokia Peach

Brown Moruga

7 Pod White

7 Pot Bubblegum

Carmel 7 Pod

7 Pod Brown

Habanero Big Sun

Chocolate Habanero

Orange Habenero

Red Habenero

Cheiro Roxa

Yellow Butch T

Brown Scotch Bonnet

I planted them in the indoor Ghetto greenhouse on 2-16-2015. Took a storage bin and bolted my 2ft 4-bulb T5 light to the lid. Then lined the inside with some Mylar emergency blanket material. The temp was getting over 100 degrees, so I took out 2 of the T5 bulbs and now its holding in the high 80's. I have the light timer on a 6am - 10pm schedule for now.

Nice drip irrigation setup Quincy! How do you like it so far?

As soon as I get it dialed in, I'm sure I'll love it. I thought it was real easy to setup and if I have to reconfigure it, I think it will be a breeze...so far so good.  If anyone is setting one up I would highly recommend getting this hole punch

http://www.amazon.com/Raindrip-63100UB-Professional-Punch-Loose/dp/B0007WJETO/ref=pd_sim_86_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0N687BBY6F1CSHJ56J0E

It made punching holes in the main line a snap.

Cleaned out the algae from the plant beds and drained the excess water out. Its been 2 weeks since I moved them from inside and potted them up to the root pouches from Solo cups and they are still holding.
Starting this weekend I'm going to go with this plan and see how it goes.
  • Week 1 - Tomato tone and fish fert watering
  • Week 2 - Epsom salt watering
  • Week 3 - Fish Fert watering
  • Week 4 - Cal Mag watering
Then start with week 1 again.
Regular watering will be ~5 min from the bubbler/sprinklers once every 4-7 days depending on the heat.

I'm also gong to install circulation fans next week to fight the heat.

Here are some pics of the algae free beds.

Nice setup. Thanks for the hole punch tip. I have plans for a hoop house. I wanted to do the same type of drip. I think I have the same timer.

I like the nute schedule. I don't have a schedule yet. I potted up with garden tone, castings and compost. I add liquids when they need it.

Good luck. Should extend your season a bit longer.

Well I got tons of green, but I think the hot temps in the green house stunted the growth during the summer. They took off again when it cooled down but no pods yet only flowers. Definitely going to have to roll up the sides next year. Hopefully I can keep the temps up enough in the green house to over winter them.

Finally got some pods!!! Now I just need to keep the green house at good temps for a month or so. Keeping my fingers crossed.

That sucks to hear.

Hopefully it lets you extend your season deep into the winter.
I have a milk house space heater in there right now, keeping the night temps up to 65. Sunlight during the day gets it up to the mid 90's easy. I have another heater on standby in case I need it.

Nice set up, need to get me a greenhouse but a little too expensive!
The cost of my greenhouse was about $650 -700 when I add it up and include the extra nut/bolts and stuff I had to get along the way. For a 12x12 you wont find a kit for cheaper. Or you can save a ton of money and use PVC pipe instead of metal. If you take out the carpet and just use buckets instead of the bed with pond liner, that alone would knock off $100-150 easy. Here is my parts list below the only thing to add to that would be exhaust/circulation fans or you can just make it so the sides can roll up, which is what I will do for the next one I build. Going to make it 20x24 ft and a lot taller with a concrete floor. Probably going to run me a few grand, but it still way cheaper than any kit I could buy that size with all the accessories.
